In an article written by CNN's Kevin Bohn and Gloria Borger, Democratic represenative from Florida Alan Grayson compared the Tea Party to the Ku Klux Klan. Republican party members were outraged and demanded an apology. Grayson swiftly responded with examples of racism that he says are directly from the Tea Party itself, with the quote "If the shoe fits, wear it." What connects this to what has been talked about in class is that the challenger to Grayson in 2014, Jorge Bonilla- (R), called the email "deplorable." This interests me as to what the reaction of the voters within the district think of this email. Is the district split 50/50 enough that Grayson might have squandered his own Incumbent advantage? Also, Grayson makes a point to point out the Tea Party separately, yet also combines them and says the Republican party as a whole is looking for the "End of Days." I am not really focused on the remark except that he is showing a trend that is starting to happen- Republicans are becoming more and more to the right so as to get re-elected over Tea Party members. Will this change votes in districts that are more moderate? Only time will tell.
