Women in Congress

Like republican senator Patty Murray, there are many women in congress who believe the government would be more efficient if women ruled the country. They say, women work together to solve problems and are more likely than men, willing to present and support a bipartisan bills.  There are currently a record of 20 women in the senate and 78 women in the House of Representatives; the majorities are democrats. The women of the senate meet every six weeks for dinner at one of the senator’s house and they talk about everything, from their personal lives to their men colleagues.

We could defiantly have a better representative congress. Currently there are very few African Americans, Hispanics, and women in congress. While history and inequality are against women we should step up and participate more in politics and other leadership positions. I agree with Murray, in that we would all benefit from more women in government because we are naturally more willing to talk, find common ground and negotiate. Women are more committed to their constituents because they practically begged for their vote of confidence and they cannot let them down. Murray says that as chair of the transportation Committee Susan and her respect each other values and they know their common ground and they focus on agreement. If there were more women in Congress, congress would be more efficient and we would not have half of our government shut down. Congress men should learn from their female colleagues.

  1. You make a good point. I agree fully. I feel that if Hillary runs for president , we then will see more females hopefully in these seats.
